I just had a thought that it would be cool if you could add a module that records to wav watever you feed into it if the host is in record mode...not a real neccessity but it would certainly be interesting.

Yes, thanks, I've heard this idea before...it is on my list
The only problem as I see it is the timing, i.e., should it start to record immediatly or sync to the host (e.g. when pressing play) ?

i would say only start recording once you arm the record button and then press play
