[WORKSFORME] Bug: Equalizer high CPU usage

Post by henrikw »

1. KarmaFX Equalizer (from KarmaFX Plugin Pack 2.0b)
2. Renoise 2.0.0 b3
3. After loading song, when playing sounds through the Equalizer effect, the CPU usage gets very high causing stuttering sound and halting the host. When disabling the effect, the problem stops. Also, when pressing the reset switch the problem goes away. Undoing the reset then sets the sliders to the same values as before but without the high CPU usage problem.
4. Don't know if it is reproducible without this specific song file.

I think the host is doing something that the Equalizer plugin should not allow.

Sounds like a bug. Thanks for reporting.

If possible please send an .fxp with the EQ settings you describe and/or send part of the song that causes the problem. I'll then try to reproduce and fix as fast as possible.

btw: are you running on amd or intel ?

Thank you.

I will try to get what you need to reproduce the problem as soon as I can.

I have an Intel CPU.

Yesterday, I was going to export an FXP file when I noticed that I could play the song without the high CPU problem. :?: The day I discovered the problem, I did close down the program a few times to see that it wasn't something temporary. The problem always came back. But yesterday I could not recreate the problem.

Will investigate further.

It is likely a "denormal" issue.

Try to play something through the EQ and then stop playing, inputting only silence into the eq. Leave it like that for a couple of minutes and see if that reproduces it.

Regardless of the outcome, I would be interested in the fxp with your settings.

Thanks again.

No luck here either. Guess that's a good thing.
Bug is not reproducible.
