KarmaFX was founded in 1998 by Kasper Nielsen, and is located in Copenhagen, Denmark.
With roots in the PC demo-scene, Kasper started development of KarmaFX Synth back in 1998.
At that time it wasn't just a synth, but a standalone application for music-making.
It included a sequencer, a tracker, an effect rack, and - of course - a software synthesizer.
Emil Hansen (a musician also with roots in the demo-scene) was the mad designated beta testing knob tweaker.
Inspired by their collaborative experimental work on electronic music - the KarmaFX project developed
(at that time simply known as "Karma") - and was used to produce tracks as early as 1998.
The synth was converted into a VST in 1999, but wasn't released as public beta until 2005.
In the mean time (2002-2003), Kasper started developing small easy-to-use VST plugins, mostly effects
for music production (i.e., Filter and Deelay).
KarmaFX aims to produce inexpensive, easy-to-use, high quality plugins that meet the demands of professionals as well as hobbyists.
